Read how two spoil brats killed five labourers in raen basera

Two spoilt brats — one son of a former MLA and another son of a businessman — driving a four wheeler in an inebriated condition ran over labourers sleeping inside a makeshift shelter home killing five of them and leaving five others grievously injured at Dalibagh area of Hazratganj police station on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
The incident took place at around 1.35am, when against the normal strength of around three dozen labourers, around five dozen were sleeping inside a makeshift shelter home to save themselves from light drizzle and chilly winter night.
However, for a few it turned out to be last night in sleep and for others it was the first nightmare as the two spoilt brats identified as Ayush Rawat, son of Late Ashok Rawat, who was an MLA from Malihabad constituency and Nikhil Arora, son of a businessman.
According to the police, the two youths driving a red-coloured four-wheeler came from Gokhale Marg side and the one who was driving the car lost control on the steering and rammed into the shelter home (raen basera), set up by an NGO ‘Ummeed’. The speed of the car was so much that it ran over around a dozen labourers before ramming into a iron pole and a wall.
By the time, the other labourers could realise what had happened, four persons had died on the spot while six others had received serious injuries. It was blood all over, when some nearby residents informed the police which rushed to the spot and sent the injured to the hospital.
Enraged over the incident, labourers caught hold of the two youths and beat them up before handing over them to the police.
Doctors at the Civil Hospital declared four labourers dead while the fifth one died on Sunday morning. Those who died have been identified as Abdul Kalam (55), Prithviraj (35), Gokaran (40), Deshraj (30), all residents of Nanpara in Bahraich district. The identity of the fifth person could not be ascertained till the filing of the news. The injured have been identified as Ram Singh (32), Qadir (35), Ramjani (63), Manoj (28), all resident of Bahraich and one unidentified
person.
The police have arrested the two youths and filed a case of culpable homiscide not amounting to murder and have begun the investigation, DIG Praveen Kumar said.
